With a prospective aim to help creators earn some revenue while live streaming, YouTube has come up with the new add-on: SUPER CHAT. This will assist the YouTubers to connect with the fans and make money on a simultaneous basis. In such manner, fans can now highlight their comments/messages in a bright color and pin them on the live-streamed video.
According to YouTube’s official blog, it is clearly mentioned,
“Anybody watching a live stream can purchase a Super Chat: a highlighted message in the chat stream that stands out from the crowd to get even more of your favorite creator’s attention. And Super Chats remain pinned to the top of chat for up to 5 hours, giving more airtime for your messages.
For creators, this means Super Chat does double duty: keeping their conversations and connections with (super) fans meaningful and lively while also giving creators a new way to make money.”
Super Chats are presented in a different manner:
- Highlighted with a color.
- Pinned for a set period.
- Maximum comment length as per the amount.
Make a purchase by following these steps:
- Choose the dollar sign popping during a live chat functioning in a portrait mode.
- Select “Send a Super Chat” option.
- Go with an amount by dragging the slider or typing the value
- Type the message and click on “Buy and Send.”
- Finish your purchase by following further instructions.
Along with Super Chat, YouTube has announced a new API feature on their blog as well. They have mentioned,
“We’re also announcing a new API service for this feature: the Super Chat API, designed to allow developers to access real-time information about Super Chat purchases.
The launch of this new API service will be followed by the shutdown of our Fan Funding API. To that end, developers using the Fan Funding API need to move to the new Super Chat API as soon as possible.”
These add-ons will help YouTube deliver a seamless browsing experience for viewers and creators. The Beta version has been launched with top YouTubers like iHasCupquake, Great Library (buzzbean11) and Alex Wassabi, and will be fully out for creators in 20 countries and viewers in 40 countries.
